John James Stafford

John J. Stafford
He was a native of Savannah, GA, born May 17, 1917, to Nicholas T. and Katherine Kearney Stafford. He was a graduate of Marist School and Benedictine Military School, Class of 1935, and attended the Georgia Institute of Technology. He retired from Savannah Industrial Supply Co.
He was an original member of the Eighth Air Force and served in the European Theater during World War II.
He was the oldest member in tenure of the Hibernian Society, serving as President of the Society from 1984-1985. He served as Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 631 and as Faithful Navigator of the Immaculate Conception Assembly of the Fourth Degree.
He was a communicant of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Deal Stafford, his parents, and his brother, Nicholas T. Stafford, Jr.
He is survived by his four daughters, Beth Carter, Judy Wasden, Jackie Munch and Kearney Fender, brother, James F. Stafford, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, on Wilmington Island with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Stafford will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 21, 2011 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Mariusz Fuks, Celebrant.
The interment will be held at the Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hibernian Society of Savannah.
